Greenwald in Last Asylum: Plague
Greenwald is an SSR Warlock damage dealer. Of the 5 popular tier lists that rank him, 3 give A+. He is a glass cannon: a wand that calls lightning and soul claws gives him heavy Energy DMG, while his weak defense keeps him alive only with a Tank in front. The game spells his name Grenwald in the hero list, and this site uses the common spelling Greenwald. For accounts that have not yet pulled Marlena, he is the best SSR damage dealer to build.
Greenwald Stats
An SSR hero from the Warlock faction, Greenwald fills the damage dealer role. At level 1 Greenwald has 27 ATK, 1,247 HP and 14 DEF, and a Command (CMD) of 50, the number of troops the hero leads. Maxing out means level 150 and all 50 star steps (10 full stars), which gives 17,411 ATK, 782,706 HP and 9,424 DEF, with CMD at 350. Ranked among all 31 heroes, Greenwald is 10th in ATK, 28th in HP and 27th in DEF. HP is the lowest of the three, inside the last five of 31.
Only level and star upgrades are counted in the table. Ravens, gear and base buildings come on top in battle, which lifts the full build to 690,773 power. By full-build power Greenwald ranks 22nd of 31. Before star steps, Greenwald at level 150 stands at 13,544 ATK, 608,795 HP and 7,331 DEF. Unlocking Greenwald takes 10 shards, the 50 star steps take 975 more. One SSR Hero Omni Shard counts as 1 hero shard. Full stars open the way into the Hall of Honor, with an honor level cap of 600.

Greenwald Skills

Three of his five skills hit for damage, one is a passive for monster fights and one is a support bonus. Heartbreaker Spell is the hardest single hit: 292.95% to 837% ATK at skill levels 1 to 40, rising to 1,841.4% once stars 15, 35 and 45 are in. Soul Capture Spell hits every target in range for 332.85% to 951% and reaches 2,044.65% at star 50. Exorcism Spell raises the damage dealt to monsters by 10.25% to 20%, up to 30%, and several rankings describe that bonus as squad-wide.
Skill Priority
Four of Greenwald's skills use Skill Badges. No ranking gives a fixed order for him, so this one follows the numbers: cooldown, size of the hit and the stars each upgrade needs.
- Heartbreaker Spell. A 5-second cooldown is the shortest in his kit, and the hit is the biggest single one, 1,841.4% ATK at star 45.
- Soul Capture Spell. It hits every target in range, so it clears groups, and its stars at 10, 30 and 50 add damage and an ATK bonus.
- Exorcism Spell. It always works and reaches 30%, which matters when the squad farms monsters.
- Cast Spell. It reaches 455.4% ATK at star 50, which makes it the last skill to feed. Tenacity takes no badges.
Skill level 5 is gated by star 20 and level 10 by star 30, so badges wait for shards. Heartbreaker Spell gets its last upgrade at star 45.
Is Greenwald Worth It
Greenwald is worth it in the early and middle game, and the rankings agree on why. Several call him the best SSR damage dealer, and one names him the first SSR to invest in while Marlena is missing. Another says that while the front row holds, his damage rivals UR heroes. The same list stops him short of S tier because he depends on that protection.
The video below teaches hero leveling in general. Greenwald follows the same level and star rules as everyone else, so it works as a primer before the first badges go in.
After Marlena arrives he does not disappear. Rankings keep him as a flex damage dealer and as a second carry beside Marlena in burst squads for fights against other players.
Greenwald vs Stellar
Both are SSR Warlocks with opposite jobs. Greenwald deals the damage and Stellar keeps the squad alive, which is why the pair shows up together in no-UR squads.
| Stat | Greenwald | Stellar |
|---|---|---|
| Rarity, faction, role | SSR Warlock Damage dealer | SSR Warlock Support |
| Power at full build | 690,773 | 695,511 |
| Attack interval | 0.77 s | 1 s |
| Top skill | Soul Capture Spell: 2,044.65% ATK Energy DMG to all targets in range | Wishing Star: monster damage of the top 2 Warlock allies up by 59.2% |
| Active skill | Heartbreaker Spell: 1,841.4% ATK Energy DMG to one enemy | Destructive Comet: 1,930.5% ATK to enemies in range |
| Passive | Exorcism Spell: damage to monsters up by 30% | Final Starlight: heals the lowest-HP ally for 1,320% ATK when she takes fatal damage |
| Tier list rating | A+ in 3 of 5 lists | A in 3 of 5 lists |
If your squad lacks damage, Greenwald comes first. If it already kills fast but falls apart in long fights such as the Rat King, Stellar comes first. She also adds a Warlock buff for monster fights, covered in the tip further down.
How to Get Greenwald
Greenwald is not gated by server age. Collect 10 Greenwald Shards and he joins your roster. Because SSR shards are easier to find than UR shards, lists send new players to him before they own any UR hero. Tickets and Omni Shards work as they do for every hero, and the heroes list has the details.
Best Team for Greenwald
Greenwald belongs in the back row, behind a Tank, with a healer or a second Tank beside him.
| Squad | Heroes | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| No-UR squad | Bella, Greenwald, Claire, Stellar, Griffith | Free-to-play accounts without UR heroes |
| Rat Swarm Defense and Rat King | Arthur, Bella or Griffith, Stellar, Marlena, Greenwald or Claire | Surviving the waves and the boss |
| SSR core | Bella, Greenwald, Stellar | Building toward the first UR pulls |
| Dual carry | Arthur, Marlena, Greenwald, Stellar and one Tank | Burst damage against other players |
Beyond these, the best team page collects squads for other modes, and Hastar, the third SSR Warlock, joins Greenwald and Stellar for the first faction bonus of 5 percent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Greenwald worth building?
Yes, as the first damage dealer on an account without Marlena. The lists mostly give him A+, and several call him the best SSR damage dealer. One hit of Heartbreaker Spell reaches 1,841.4% ATK and his passive adds monster damage, but his thin defense demands a Tank in front.
Is Greenwald or Stellar better?
They fill different slots, so ask what your squad lacks. Greenwald is the damage dealer and Stellar the Support who heals, and the lists put them at A+ and A. Greenwald's full-build power is 690,773, a little under the 695,511 of Stellar. Pick Greenwald when fights end too slowly, and Stellar when allies keep dying.
Is Greenwald the same hero as Grenwald?
Yes. The in-game hero list spells the name Grenwald, while most guides write Greenwald, and both names point to one SSR Warlock damage dealer. This site uses Greenwald. Skills, stats and shards are identical under either spelling, so a guide that uses the other name still describes the same hero.
Which Greenwald skill should I level first?
Level Heartbreaker Spell first, then Soul Capture Spell, then Exorcism Spell. Heartbreaker Spell has a 5-second cooldown and reaches 1,841.4% ATK at star 45, so each badge returns the most damage there. The auto attack Cast Spell is last in line, and Tenacity needs no badges.
How do I get Greenwald?
From the first day of a server, 10 Greenwald Shards are all it takes to unlock him. As an SSR he is easier to collect than a UR hero: shards drop from the Tavern, the Alliance Shop and event rewards. Collect for him alone first, because a few shards each of several heroes unlock none of them.
