Last Asylum Plague Gear Guide
Every hero in Last Asylum: Plague wears four pieces of gear: a Sword, Armor, Gauntlets and Boots. Gear comes in R, SR, SSR and UR rarity, and a UR piece promoted to five stars becomes MR. The Gear Workshop crafts SR gear at level 1, SSR gear at level 5 and UR gear at level 10, and star promotion opens at level 20, so your first goal is a level 10 workshop and your second goal is level 20.
Gear Slots and Rarities
Each hero has four gear slots, and a piece fits only its own slot. An equipped piece stays on one hero, so a squad of five heroes needs twenty pieces. A higher rarity gives stronger base stats, a higher enhance cap and extra bonus stats. R gear cannot be enhanced, SR gear stops at level 15, SSR gear at level 30 and UR gear at level 60. The might column adds up all four pieces of one rarity, so it shows how much a full set is worth on the might screen.
| Rarity | Craft at workshop level | Craft cost | Craft time | Enhance cap | Set might at level 0 | Set might at cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R | Not craftable | None | None | Cannot be enhanced | 1,953 | 1,953 |
| SR | 1 | 40 Brass and 5,000 Herb | 1 hour | Level 15 | 4,123 | 7,300 |
| SSR | 5 | 150 Refined Iron and 100K Herb | 2 hours | Level 30 | 23,313 | 66,791 |
| UR | 10 | 750 Tempered Steel and 500K Herb | 2 days | Level 60 | 96,525 | 733,093 |
The four UR slots split the work between them. Sword and Gauntlets carry attack, while Armor and Boots carry HP and defense, so the right slot depends on the role of the hero who wears it. Heroes are sorted into Tank, damage dealer and Support on the heroes page.
| UR slot | Stats at level 0 | Stats at level 60 |
|---|---|---|
| Sword | +887 ATK, +589 DEF, +2.5% ATK, +5% Crit rate | +8,145 ATK, +5,431 DEF, +12.5% ATK, +25% Crit rate |
| Armor | +296 DEF, +103,474 HP, +2.5% DEF, +2.5% HP | +2,712 DEF, +950,026 HP, +12.5% DEF, +12.5% HP |
| Gauntlets | +590 ATK, +41,389 HP, +2.5% ATK, +2% DMG RES | +5,431 ATK, +380,009 HP, +12.5% ATK, +10% DMG RES |
| Boots | +592 DEF, +62,085 HP, +2.5% DEF, +2.5% HP | +5,427 DEF, +570,012 HP, +12.5% DEF, +12.5% HP |
Gear Workshop Levels
The Gear Workshop appears at Sanctuary level 4. From level 5 on, a workshop level needs the same Sanctuary level, so the workshop never passes the Sanctuary. Most levels only add might, and four levels open new options: level 1 for SR crafting, level 5 for SSR crafting, level 10 for UR crafting and level 20 for UR star promotion. Level 20 alone costs 16.19M Grain, 49.54M Timber and 5.79M Herb and takes 4d 8h 42m at base speed. Other buildings are covered on the buildings page.

How Gear Upgrades Work
Gear moves through four steps: craft a piece, enhance its level with Gearstones and Herb, promote UR pieces with blueprints, and dismantle pieces you no longer need to get materials back. This video shows the gear screens and the order of those steps, which helps before you spend your first blueprints.
Gear Blueprint Sources
The Gear Blueprint (UR) is the key material for star promotion: every one of the 20 steps from 0 to 4 stars uses at least one, and 50 are needed per piece. The Gear Blueprint (MR) is used only for the fifth star. Blueprints set the pace of promotion, so the table below shows where each one can be bought. Compare the price with your own currencies on the shops page before you spend.
| Source | Blueprint | Price | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shop that takes Fame Medals (needs Sanctuary 20) | UR | 10,000 Fame Medals | 50 |
| Strange Bazaar | UR | 60 Strange Coins | 150 |
| Strange Bazaar | MR | 300 Strange Coins | 10 |
| Era Shop | MR | 200 Era Medals | 10 |
| Blades Out event shop | UR | 12 Stone Blades | 20 |
| Recluse Merchant event | UR x1 | 600 Recluse Coins | Once per offer |
| Recluse Merchant event | UR x5 | 4,000 Recluse Coins | Once per offer |
| Gear Choice Supply | UR | Pick one of three rewards | Per supply opened |
| Dismantling promoted gear | UR, MR | Returns what you spent | None |
The Fame Medal shop alone covers one piece: its limit of 50 purchases matches the 50 blueprints that one piece needs for four stars. Blades Out and Recluse Merchant are events, so their offers are available only while the event runs.
Gearstones and Materials
Two buildings feed the gear system. The Smelting Workshop produces Gearstones, which pay for every enhance level and every promotion step. The Weaving Workshop produces Cloth, the first of five crafting materials: Cloth, Leather, Brass, Refined Iron, Tempered Steel. Fusing 4 pieces of one material makes 1 piece of the next, so one Tempered Steel equals 256 Cloth. Both buildings appear at Sanctuary level 5 and you can build up to 5 of each.
| Workshop number | Smelting Workshop needs Sanctuary | Weaving Workshop needs Sanctuary |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5 | 5 |
| 2 | 10 | 11 |
| 3 | 14 | 14 |
| 4 | 16 | 18 |
| 5 | 20 | 21 |
Output grows with building level. The figures below are for one workshop, so multiply them by the number you have built.
| Building level | Gearstones per hour | Cloth per hour |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | 5 |
| 5 | 13 | 17 |
| 10 | 23 | 32 |
| 15 | 31 | 48 |
| 20 | 43 | 63 |
| 25 | 53 | 77 |
| 30 | 62 | 91 |
Dismantling returns the crafting materials, the Gearstones and the blueprints you spent, but it does not return Herb. An unenhanced piece gives back the full craft material, as the table shows.
| Rarity | Material returned per piece |
|---|---|
| R | 40 Leather |
| SR | 40 Brass |
| SSR | 150 Refined Iron |
| UR | 750 Tempered Steel |
Enhance Gear Levels
Enhancing raises a piece one level at a time. UR pieces become expensive quickly: level 1 to 4 cost 1,500 Gearstones and 180K Herb per level, and level 57 to 60 cost 27,500 Gearstones and 51.56M Herb per level. Without stars a UR piece stops at level 44. Taking one piece from level 0 to 44 costs 245,000 Gearstones, 123.63M Herb and 600 Tempered Steel, and level 60 costs 595,000 Gearstones, 779.88M Herb and 4,800 Tempered Steel.
| UR levels | Gearstones per level | Herb per level | Tempered Steel per level |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-4 | 1,500 | 180K | None |
| 5-8 | 2,250 | 287K | None |
| 9-12 | 3,000 | 405K | None |
| 13-16 | 3,750 | 534K | None |
| 17-20 | 4,500 | 675K | None |
| 21-24 | 5,250 | 803K | None |
| 25-28 | 6,000 | 936K | None |
| 29-32 | 6,750 | 1.07M | None |
| 33-36 | 7,500 | 1.22M | None |
| 37-40 | 8,250 | 1.36M | None |
| 41-44 | 12,500 | 23.44M | 150 |
| 45-48 | 16,250 | 30.47M | 195 |
| 49-52 | 20,000 | 37.5M | 240 |
| 53-56 | 23,750 | 44.53M | 285 |
| 57-60 | 27,500 | 51.56M | 330 |
Some levels add a bonus on top of the normal stat gain. UR pieces get one at levels 10, 20, 30 and 40, and SSR pieces get a 2% bonus at levels 10, 20 and 30: Sword and Gauntlets add damage to monsters, while Armor and Boots reduce the damage monsters deal. SR gear has no bonus levels.
| UR slot | Level 10 | Level 20 | Level 30 | Level 40 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sword | +250 ATK | +2.5% Crit rate | +250 ATK | +2.5% Crit rate |
| Armor | +68,000 HP | +10% Physical DMG RES | +68,000 HP | +10% Physical DMG RES |
| Gauntlets | +250 ATK | +2% DMG RES | +250 ATK | +2% DMG RES |
| Boots | +500 DEF | +10% Energy DMG RES | +500 DEF | +10% Energy DMG RES |
Promote UR Gear
Promotion unlocks at Gear Workshop level 20 and works only on UR pieces. Each star is made of 5 steps, and each step costs UR blueprints, Gearstones and Tempered Steel. A star also raises the enhance cap by 4 levels, from 44 without stars to 60 with four. The Sword gets +500 ATK at star 1, +2.5% Crit rate at star 2, +500 ATK at star 3, +2.5% Crit rate at star 4, and the other slots get their own stat bonuses.
| Star | Blueprints per step | Gearstones per step | Tempered Steel per step | Blueprints for the star | Enhance cap after |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | None | None | None | None | 44 |
| 1 | 1 | 2,500 | 30 | 5 | 48 |
| 2 | 2 | 3,250 | 39 | 10 | 52 |
| 3 | 3 | 4,000 | 48 | 15 | 56 |
| 4 | 4 | 4,750 | 57 | 20 | 60 |
Four stars on one piece take 50 UR blueprints, 72,500 Gearstones and 870 Tempered Steel. A full set of four UR pieces at level 60 with four stars each comes to 2,670,000 Gearstones, 25,680 Tempered Steel (crafting included) and 200 blueprints.
MR Gear and the Fifth Star
A UR piece with 4 stars can go one step further. The fifth star is a single step that costs 10 Gear Blueprints (MR), 27,500 Gearstones and 330 Tempered Steel. The piece becomes MR, keeps the level 60 cap and gains +10% DMG when countering. MR blueprints are sold in the Strange Bazaar and the Era Shop, so plan them only after the four-star pieces on your main squad are done.
Gear Upgrade Priority
Gear competes with the Sanctuary and research for the same Herb, so the order matters. The upgrade guide shows where gear sits in the full progression, and the steps below cover gear only.
- Raise the Sanctuary to level 10, then the Gear Workshop to level 10. Craft UR pieces directly instead of spending Herb on SR and SSR pieces you will replace. One guide suggests holding materials until you have 750 Tempered Steel for the first UR piece.
- Give gear to the heroes in your main squad before anyone else. Damage dealers get Sword and Gauntlets first, Tanks like Arthur get Armor and Boots first, and Support heroes such as Harper need Armor and Boots before the attack slots.
- Enhance the core pieces to level 40 to collect all four bonus levels. Reaching level 40 costs 195,000 Gearstones and 29.88M Herb per piece, and the price per level climbs sharply after it.
- Buy blueprints at the Fame Medal shop before anything else it sells. Blueprints are scarce, and two guides rank them as the best purchase in their shop.
- Raise the Gear Workshop to level 20, then promote one piece to its next star before you spread blueprints across several pieces. Each star lifts the enhance cap, so a promoted piece also lets you keep enhancing.
- Dismantle every unequipped piece. You get the materials back and lose only the Herb, and the materials go into the next UR craft.
The Gear Upgrade event hands out Heavy Supply boxes and other gear rewards. One guide suggests saving blueprints for events that score points for crafting actions, so check the events page before you spend. Daily resource collection keeps Herb coming for the enhance costs in between.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Gear Workshop level do I need for UR gear?
UR gear unlocks at Gear Workshop level 10, and the workshop cannot pass your Sanctuary level, so you need Sanctuary 10 first. One UR piece costs 750 Tempered Steel and 500,000 Herb, and takes 2 days to craft. The workshop level table lists every level.
How do I promote gear in Last Asylum?
Promotion needs Gear Workshop level 20 and a UR piece. Each star takes five steps, and every step costs UR blueprints, Gearstones and Tempered Steel. Four stars on one piece cost 50 blueprints, 72,500 Gearstones and 870 Tempered Steel, and each star raises the enhance cap by 4 levels. See the star table for each step.
Where do I get gear blueprints?
The shop that takes Fame Medals sells one UR blueprint for 10,000 Fame Medals, with a limit of 50, once your Sanctuary is level 20. The Strange Bazaar sells them for 60 Strange Coins, and dismantling promoted gear returns the blueprints you spent. The blueprint table lists every source.
How do I get Gearstones?
Smelting Workshops make Gearstones every hour. You can build 5 of them, and at level 30 each one makes 62 per hour, so five give 310 per hour. Dismantling gear also returns the Gearstones you spent. Details on the buildings are in the materials section.
What is MR gear?
MR is the top rarity. A UR piece with 4 stars becomes MR when you promote it to the fifth star, which costs 10 Gear Blueprints (MR), 27,500 Gearstones and 330 Tempered Steel in one step. The fifth star gives the piece +10% DMG when countering. MR blueprints come from the Strange Bazaar and the Era Shop.
Which gear should I upgrade first?
Start with the main damage dealer of your first squad, then the front row Tanks. Raise the Gear Workshop to level 10 and craft UR pieces directly, enhance Sword and Gauntlets for damage dealers, and Armor and Boots for Tanks. Move to level 20 and star promotion only after the core pieces reach their level 40 bonuses.
