Last Asylum Plague Beginner Guide
In your first 24 hours in Last Asylum: Plague, finish the chapter quests, raise the Sanctuary through its first levels, join an alliance and start recruiting toward Arthur. Over the first 7 days, keep the build and research queues busy, start the Development research and put every hero shard into one squad of five. Free-to-play accounts follow the same plan, and this guide also shows where Diamonds go and which heroes to level first.
First 24 Hours
The first day is about quests and the early Sanctuary levels, which finish fast. These steps keep a new account moving without spending anything.
- Play the chapter quests. They pay out experience, speedups and hero shards, and they point to the next useful building, so follow them instead of upgrading buildings at random. The guides hub links to the pages behind each system.
- Raise the Sanctuary through its first levels. Levels 2 and 3 finish in 2s and 3s. Level 4 needs one level of each storage building, Lumber Depot, Granary and Herb Storage, and takes 5m. Level 5 asks for Walls level 3 and takes 10m. The table below lists the first nine upgrades.
- Clear the plague zones around the Sanctuary. One guide suggests doing this early because expansion unlocks buildings, features and Supply Chests with purple equipment.
- Join an alliance. Members help with timers and alliance gifts include Diamonds and speedups. The alliance section below explains why day one is the right time.
- Recruit toward Arthur. He is the first UR Tank you can reach, and each banner also hands out a free pull on a timer. Keep your Diamonds for recruiting, as the Diamonds section shows.
- Plan the Research Lab. It joins the Sanctuary requirement list at level 11, and Development research is the first tree to open once it is ready.
| Level | Required buildings | Grain and Timber | Herb | Build time | Hero level cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | None | 32 each | 0 | 2s | 5 |
| 3 | None | 983 each | 0 | 3s | 5 |
| 4 | Lumber Depot Lv.1, Granary Lv.1, Herb Storage Lv.1 | 2,598 each | 0 | 5m | 15 |
| 5 | Walls Lv.3 | 19,730 each | 0 | 10m | 25 |
| 6 | Walls Lv.5 | 92,710 each | 0 | 34m | 30 |
| 7 | Training Grounds Lv.4, Alliance Hall Lv.3 | 235.8K each | 0 | 1h 30m | 35 |
| 8 | Training Grounds Lv.6, Alliance Hall Lv.5 | 395.6K each | 0 | 3h 1m | 40 |
| 9 | Walls Lv.8, Alliance Hall Lv.7 | 605.8K each | 208.7K | 4h 16m | 45 |
| 10 | Walls Lv.9, Infirmary Lv.7 | 748.7K each | 232.9K | 5h 35m | 50 |
All values are base costs before bonuses. The Sanctuary page carries the same table for every level up to 30.
First 7 Days
Week one rewards steady queues more than speed. The table shows how far the Sanctuary could climb at the end of each day if its own builds ran back to back at base time. The buildings on the requirement list need time too, so treat the figures as a ceiling.
| End of day | Highest Sanctuary level | Hero level cap | Sanctuary build time used |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | 11 | 55 | 22h 28m |
| Day 2 | 13 | 65 | 1d 20h 6m |
| Day 3 | 14 | 70 | 2d 12h 0m |
| Day 4 | 15 | 75 | 3d 10h 15m |
| Day 5 | 16 | 80 | 4d 17h 24m |
| Day 6 | 16 | 80 | 4d 17h 24m |
| Day 7 | 17 | 85 | 6d 13h 1m |
One guide sets a week-one target of Sanctuary level 18 and then level 20. Level 18 needs 9d 2h 4m of Sanctuary builds at base time against a ceiling of level 17 for the week, so the target depends on speedups, builder help from the alliance and Construction Master research, which cuts building time by 5 percent per level. Level 20 matters because Tier 7 troops unlock at Training Grounds level 20, and no building can pass the Sanctuary level.
Daily Routine
- Claim the login reward and finish the chapter and daily tasks.
- Collect farm output and send idle survivors out to gather. The survivors page lists the posts and their bonuses.
- Keep the build queue and the research queue running at all times.
- Donate to alliance research when your alliance asks for it.
- When the Rat Swarm wave defense is open, put your upgraded towers at the narrow points where the rat paths meet. Two guides give this advice, and the events page has the full plan.
- From day 3, play the Survival Battle each day. One guide points out that it is a permanent event with steady free rewards. The Survival Battle page covers it.
The video below shows the starting roster in action and helps when you choose the first heroes to build.
F2P Tips
A free-to-play account can keep pace if it spends shards and time on one plan. Dailies, alliance activity, event milestones and caravan rerolls all add UR hero shards over time.
- Start with Warriors. 10 of the 18 heroes open on day one are Warriors, so a full five-hero faction squad needs no waiting. The heroes page explains the faction bonus.
- Build Arthur first and Marlena second. Both are UR heroes, and both are open from the first day of any server.
- Visit the alliance shop every week. It sells UR hero shards, and Bella can be built from free fragments there.
- Claim every event milestone. The rewards add shards and speedups, which a free account would not buy.
- Equip purple gear or better on your main heroes. One guide notes that maxing every piece is unnecessary and suggests forging once heroes reach level 30. The gear guide has the slot priority.
What to Spend Diamonds On
Spend Diamonds on hero recruitment and little else in the first days. Save the free Diamonds for the Arthur recruit banner until the pity counter pays out. The table sorts the common uses.
| Use | Verdict | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Hero recruit tickets | Spend first | A ticket costs 398 Diamonds, each banner has one free pull and the 50th pull gives 10 shards of a UR hero. |
| Daily Caravan rerolls | Small amounts | One guide suggests rerolling the Daily Caravan missions for UR shards. |
| Permanent #2 Build Queue | Worth it if you pay | The pack costs $1.99 and unlocks a second build queue for good. One guide calls two building queues the sweet spot, and the shops page compares it with the other packs. |
| Construction speedups | Skip early | Sanctuary levels 2 to 6 take 50m together at base time, so the timers worth shortening come later. |
| Plain Diamond purchases | Skip | Packs and passes add items on top of the Diamonds, so they beat buying Diamonds alone. |
| Monthly pass and first top-up pack | Best value if you pay | These give the most Diamonds and bonuses per dollar. |
The shops page covers what each shop sells, and the VIP page explains VIP points. Redeem the rewards from the gift codes list as well.
What to Upgrade First
The order below keeps every upgrade useful. The upgrade guide covers the full route past week one.
- Sanctuary: no other building can pass its level, so it always leads.
- Storage and Walls: levels 4 and 5 of the Sanctuary ask for them, so raise them when the requirement list shows them.
- Research Lab: take Development first, starting with Training Ground Unlock, Construction Master and Research Speed. The research guide lists the order.
- Main heroes: stars, skills and levels on your five core heroes before secondary ones.
- Gear and troops: after the heroes, because they multiply what the heroes already do.
Clinic and Patients
Your Sanctuary runs a clinic, and patients arrive at its entrance. Admitting them pays Copper Coins, so open the clinic whenever a crowd of patients waits. When patients bitten by Black Rats arrive, the game asks you to admit them at once and warns that the condition is critical, so treat these emergency patients first. A full ward stops new admissions, and the game tells you with the message Wards are full. Go treat patients!
Upgrading a ward shortens the healing time, raises item production and raises the earnings you collect while you are away, because the Sanctuary keeps working when you log out. The Clinic Information window shows your recruit slot, the emergency reward and the offline rewards in one place. The Ward Renovation Plan is a chain of 3 quests that asks for Blueprints and rare Herbs from the Cursed Forest or the World Map. If the game says Town development needs assistance. Please recruit survivors first!, recruit survivors first, as the survivors page explains. Herbs come from the Herb Garden, and the resources page shows how to keep them flowing.
Starting Heroes
18 heroes need no server age: 2 UR, 12 SSR and 4 SR. Arthur and Marlena are the two UR picks, and Bella, Claire and Celia round out a starter squad of five Warriors. Arthur and Bella tank at the front while the other three attack and support from behind. See the best team section for squads built around other factions.
| Hero | Rarity | Faction | Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arthur | UR | Warrior | Tank |
| Marlena | UR | Warrior | Damage dealer |
| Bella | SSR | Warrior | Tank |
| Greenwald | SSR | Warlock | Damage dealer |
| Griffith | SSR | Ranger | Tank |
| Stellar | SSR | Warlock | Support |
| Bestar | SSR | Ranger | Damage dealer |
| Claire | SSR | Warrior | Damage dealer |
| Hastar | SSR | Warlock | Tank |
| Lucius | SSR | Warrior | Tank |
| Kesso | SSR | Warrior | Damage dealer |
| Celia | SSR | Warrior | Support |
| Sivir | SSR | Warrior | Damage dealer |
| Ash | SSR | Ranger | Damage dealer |
| Durant | SR | Warrior | Tank |
| Robin | SR | Ranger | Damage dealer |
| William | SR | Warrior | Damage dealer |
| Kafa | SR | Warlock | Damage dealer |
Focus on one main squad of five instead of spreading across all three squad slots. Later heroes such as Shadow, Cynthia and Harper unlock as the server ages, so a new account can treat the table above as the full day-one roster. The squads page covers slots and formation.
Do You Need an Alliance?
You can start without one, but join an active alliance on day one. Members help shorten timers, alliance gifts include Diamonds and speedups, and the alliance shop sells UR hero shards every week. The Sanctuary also asks for the Alliance Hall from level 7, and the Alliance Hall only works for players who are in an alliance.
Pick the strongest active alliance you can enter. Later, Alliance Duel research opens at Research Lab level 15, and an alliance that plays its events gives you more to claim. The alliance page explains ranks, roles and the shop, and the Alliance Duel page shows the weekly schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do first in Last Asylum Plague?
Finish the chapter quests, raise the Sanctuary through its first levels and join an alliance on the first day. Then start Development research and recruit toward Arthur, the first UR Tank you can reach. The chapter quests give experience, speedups and hero shards, and they point to the next useful building. The Sanctuary requirements show what each level asks for.
Do you have to join an alliance in Last Asylum Plague?
No alliance is needed to start playing, but joining on the first day pays off. Members help shorten timers, alliance gifts include Diamonds and speedups, and the alliance shop sells hero shards every week. The Sanctuary also asks for the Alliance Hall from level 7. Pick an active alliance, and read the alliance page for ranks and roles.
What should I spend Diamonds on?
Spend Diamonds on hero recruitment first. A recruit ticket costs 398 Diamonds, every banner has one free pull, and the 50th pull gives 10 UR shards. Skip early construction speedups and plain Diamond purchases. If you pay, a monthly pass or a first top-up pack gives the best value. The shops page lists what each shop sells.
Can you play Last Asylum Plague for free?
Yes, free-to-play accounts grow through daily tasks, alliance activity, event milestones and caravan rerolls, which add UR hero shards over time. Arthur and Marlena are open on day one, and the alliance shop sells shards every week. Focus on one squad of five heroes and the free route works. The hero tier list ranks the heroes worth building.
Which heroes should a beginner level first?
Level Arthur and Marlena first, because both are UR heroes without a server day condition. Round the squad out with Bella as a second Tank, plus Claire and Celia. That makes a five-Warrior squad with the full faction bonus. Keep your shards on one hero at a time. The best team section lists more squads.
How fast can I reach Sanctuary level 20?
At base values the Sanctuary builds for levels 2 to 20 add up to 17d 15h 13m. Construction Speed bonuses, Construction Master research and speedups shorten that. The required buildings also need build time of their own, so plan for more than the Sanctuary figure alone. The Sanctuary page has a planner that applies your own bonus.
