Last Asylum Plague Squad Lineup

Published: 2026-10-25

A squad in Last Asylum: Plague sends up to five heroes into battle in two rows, with two heroes in the front row and three in the back row. Squad 1 unlocks at Sanctuary level 4, Squad 2 at level 8 and Squad 3 at level 20, while Squad 4 needs an active Monthly Pass and appears at level 5. Put Tanks in front, damage dealers and Support heroes behind them, and build the squad from one faction when you can.

Squad Unlock Requirements

There are four Squad buildings, Squad 1 to Squad 4, and the game lists each one as a march queue. Every squad you unlock lets you send one more lineup out of the city at the same time. Three squads open with the Sanctuary, and the fourth is tied to the Monthly Pass. After the first level, a Squad building cannot go above your Sanctuary level.

Squad 45Active Monthly PassNeeds the Monthly Pass, which lasts 30 days.

Without the Monthly Pass you have a single squad until Sanctuary level 8, so Squad 1 gets every upgrade first. The buildings page lists what else each Sanctuary level opens.

Squad 4 and Monthly Pass

Squad 4 is the only squad that is not tied to a Sanctuary level alone. The Monthly Pass adds an extra squad for 30 days, and it also adds 15% gathering speed for all squads, 5% less damage from monsters for all squads and 5% building construction speed. Its building appears at Sanctuary level 5.

Squad Formation and Rows

A lineup has five places. The first two are the front row and the other three are the back row. Fights go better when the front row can survive long enough for the back row to deal damage.

RowPlacesWho stands thereJob
Front row2Tanks (Frontline heroes)Absorb enemy damage and protect the back row
Back row3Damage dealers (Backline) and Support heroesDeal damage from behind and strengthen the team

The game names the three roles Frontline, Support and Backline, and the heroes page lists every hero with its role and faction. A squad of one faction gains up to 20% HP, ATK and DEF, and each faction beats one other faction and loses to another, which the same page explains in full.

Best Squad Lineups

A common build is a pair of Tanks in front, a pair of damage dealers plus a single Support hero in the back. A new account can start with five Warriors: Arthur and Bella in front, and Marlena, Claire and Celia behind them, which gives the full 20% faction bonus without waiting for other UR heroes. The full ranking of current squads is in the best team section of the tier list.

Spend your resources on one main squad. Several guides agree that heroes you actually use in the main lineup should get gear, stars and levels first, and the gear guide shows which slots to fill. One guide suggests giving each of your squads a different faction.

Squad Tech Buff

Each squad has its own research tree: Squad 1, Squad 2, Squad 3 and Squad 4. A tree has 20 nodes with 5 levels each, and the nodes need a Research Lab between level 8 and level 18. The bonus from a squad's tree is the squad tech buff. A squad's tech boost applies to one lineup at a time, and the game asks you to adjust it when the lineup using the boost changes. The research page explains the other trees and the Lab path.

The four trees give the same bonuses, but they do not cost the same. Squad 1 and Squad 4 are the cheap trees. Squad 2 costs about 15 times as much Grain as Squad 1, and Squad 3 costs about 76 times as much.

Squad Load

Squad load decides how many resources a squad carries when it gathers or plunders. A higher soldier level raises it, and the troops page shows the soldier tiers. In each squad tree the Heavy Duty node adds 15% load over its five levels, and the Gathering node adds 20% gathering speed. The Monthly Pass adds another 15% gathering speed to every squad.

Squad Building Levels

Every Squad building has 30 levels. Each level adds march speed and might, and all four squads share the same values, from 0.7% march speed at level 1 to 15.1% at level 30. The columns on the right show the lowest Sanctuary level for each squad. Squad 3 needs Sanctuary level 20 for each of its first twenty levels.

Upgrading a Squad building costs Grain, Timber and Herb, and the price is almost the same for all four squads. Grain and Timber always cost the same amount, so the table lists one number for both. The time column is identical for every squad. The cost grows fast: level 30 asks for hundreds of millions of Grain and Timber, so upgrade the Squad buildings in step with your Sanctuary and keep resources for the levels that raise march speed the most.

The march speed bonus grows with every level, so raise your Squad buildings as soon as the Sanctuary allows. The PvP page covers fights against other players.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I unlock Squad 3 in Last Asylum?

Squad 3 needs Sanctuary level 20. At that level the Squad 3 building can be placed, and it is the highest requirement of the three regular squads, since Squad 1 needs level 4 and Squad 2 needs level 8. Until then you run only Squad 1 and Squad 2, plus Squad 4 if you hold the Monthly Pass. The Sanctuary requirements list what each level asks for.

How do I unlock Squad 4?

Squad 4 needs an active Monthly Pass, and its building appears at Sanctuary level 5. The pass lasts 30 days. When it expires, the game asks you to purchase it again to activate Squad 4. The same pass also adds 15% gathering speed for all squads and 5% construction speed.

How do I arrange heroes in a squad?

A squad holds up to five heroes in two rows: two places in the front row and three in the back row. Put Tanks in front, where they absorb damage, and damage dealers and Support heroes in the back row. A squad with heroes of one faction also gains up to 20% HP, ATK and DEF, as the heroes page explains.

What is the squad tech buff?

The squad tech buff is the bonus from the research tree of a squad. Squad 1 to Squad 4 each have their own tree of 20 nodes, covering hero stats, march speed, gathering and damage. A squad's tech boost applies to one lineup at a time, and the game asks you to adjust it when the lineup changes. See the research page for the Lab path.

What is squad load?

Squad load is how many resources a squad can carry when it gathers or plunders. Higher soldier level raises it, and the Heavy Duty node in each squad tree adds up to 15% more across five levels. It matters for gathering and plunder marches.

What is the best squad lineup?

A common build puts a pair of Tanks in the front row and fills the back row with a pair of damage dealers plus a single Support hero, using heroes of one or two factions. Which five heroes fill those places depends on what you own. The best team section of the tier list shows the current squads, including a starter squad for new accounts.
